ML-1 and ML-1M are the Traditional Models and come in the Blue Bag. Optional Hard Case.
The ML-3S are the “Short” versions with everything built into the tube and come in Yellow or Tan with a Black or Tan Aluminum Case.
The ML-3L are the “Long” versions with everything built into the tube and come in Yellow or Tan with a Black or Tan Aluminum Case.
“Yellow” is normally used in the commercial markets and most UXO where post-war cleanup is done.
“Tan” is normally used in the Military and DOD markets and may be used in near-combat UXO detection is done.

ML-3 DOD Tan only
Same as ML-3LT except it uses Rechargeable “C” Cells, and also includes a Wall Charger & Accessory Bag.
LCD Output:
The ML-1M LCD has a Bar Graph which ex-pands according to Signal Strength & Polarity (+ or -). It also indicates which of eight Gain settings are in use; and a Battery Icon flashes in the lower right corner when batteries are nearing need of replacement. (All Magnetic Locators may ‘scream’ un-controllably once the batteries become too weak to operate the electronics properly; if so, replace with new batteries first.)
LCD Output on all ML-3 units:
A single narrow LCD is built into the Keypad built into the tube. A Bar Graph expands ac-cording to Signal Strength and a “+” or “-” illuminates above the graph to indicate Polarity. ZERO ADJUST: to remove or compensate for ‘magnetic gradient’ in the soil. ML-3 units only.
Hard Cases:
The ML-1 & ML-1M do NOT come with a hard case, however, an OPTIONAL ABS Hard Case is available. The ML-3 units ALL automatically come with a cloth bag inside an Aluminum Case. The Aluminum Case is Black for the Yel-low Units, and Tan for the Tan units
Battery Life:
The ML-1 & ML-1M use 9-V Alkaline batteries (2) and last about 40 hours. The ML-3S (short versions) use “AA” Alkaline Batteries and last 80 to 100 hours. The ML-3L (long versions) use “C” Cell Alkaline batteries and may last 200 hours. (All battery life is considered to be based on intermittent use.) All units come with 2 sets of batteries (1 spare set), except the DOD unit which comes with 1 set of rechargeables.
